
The Clarkstown Police Department continues its focus on seatbelt safety. In May, enforcement patrols issued 154 seatbelt summones. On Saturday, the department is one of the law enforcement agencies bringing the message of seatbelt and child seat safety to a free program in Nanuet.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., agencies will hold a Child Passenger and Community Safety Day at Schultz Ford Lincoln at 80 Route 304 in Nanuet. The safety program is free to the public and sponsored by the Rockland County Traffic Safety Board and Schultz Ford Lincoln. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be on site to install and inspect a child/infant car seat placement. They will also be able to provide informato about recalls.
Sgt. Jo Anne Fratianni said the correct use of child safety restraints is crtiical.

"Parents are the key to keeping their children safe in the car," she noted.
Regular seat belt use is identified as the single most effective way to reduce fatalities and injuries in motor vehicle crashes. The goal is 100 percent compliance with the law and insuring that every passenger in a vehicle is always properly buckled.
