Contested Election In Nanuet School Board and Budget Vote

Voters go to the polls Tuesday.

NANUET, NY — The annual budget and board vote is coming up for residents of the Nanuet school district.

The $ 90,435,816 spending plan is just under a 3 percent increase over the current $ 87.86 million budget. The tax levy will rise 1.29 percent, under New York State's tax cap. It includes renovating the library at Highview Elementary School and installing additional LED lighting in the Nanuet Senior High School hallways.

There are are five candidates running for four seats for the Nanuet Union Free School District Board of Education. The three incumbents, Christine Camillieri, Stephanie A. Lee, and Geoff Gaiss, are joined by two additional candidates, Raymondo E. Pappalardi and Kimberli Madden.

The terms are staggered.

  • Two seats are three (3)-year terms from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2027
  • One seat is a two (2)-year term from May 21, 2024 to June 30, 2026
  • One seat is a one (1)-year term from May 21, 2024 to June-30, 2025



For the Nanuet Public Library Board, there will be one open seat with a five-year term from July 1 to June 30, 2029. There are no new candidates running so the seat will go to the individual who receives the most write-in votes.

The Annual Budget Vote and Election will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 in the Nanuet High School Gym; the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
