Mark off Saturday, June 1st for the Sixth Annual Nanuet Family Festival. The event at the Nanuet Outdoor Education Center will feature more than 30 community vendors and health organizations plus an historical walk, a quarter and a half mile run, inflatable activities, pony rides, sports clinics and a dunk tank with teachers volunteering to take turns.
Nanuet Family Resource Center Director Roseanne Mercado, who has been organizing the event with a committee of eight volunteers, said there will be plenty to keep everyone busy for during the festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is no rain date so they are hoping for good weather.
“All different members of the community will be there,” she said on Wednesday.
Admission is free. Pony rides will cost $3 and there will be a charge for the bouncy house. Parents of high school juniors will be selling food to raise money for Project Graduation. Teachers will take half hour shifts between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. for the dunk tank, which will cost $1 for three balls.
Mercado hopes for an even larger turnout than last year.
“We hope so; we definitely have more people participating,” she said.
The Rockin Gaming Theatre & Glamour Lounge will have video games and glamour activities. The Nanuet Fire House is bringing a fire truck and providing a fire themed inflatable bouncy ride/slide combination.
Children can learn a new sport or practice their skills during soccer, lacrosse and grip n rip clinics run by district coaches. Parents must sign waiver forms for the clinics and must register their children for the Fun Runs.
A series of entertainers will take to the large outdoor stage for hip-hop, dance and karate performances and a DJ will play music throughout the festival.
