Man Struck By Train In Nanuet Identified
The victim is a Congers resident, according to MTA officials.
NANUET, NY — A man struck and killed by a train Wednesday afternoon has been identified as a Congers resident.
The victim was Nicholas K. Colandrea, 32, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department announced Thursday.
Colandrea was struck Wednesday at about 2:55 p.m, west of the Metro-North Railroad Nanuet station in Rockland County, according to Aaron Donovan, MTA’s deputy communications director.

Medical personnel pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
The southbound New Jersey Transit Train 1630, operating on Metro-North's Pascack Valley Line, struck the man on the tracks as it entered the Nanuet station, according to Donovan.

The MTA police department is leading the investigation, which is still in its preliminary stages.
At the time, the train was traveling approximately 25 miles per hour, which MTA officials described as an “appropriate speed for that location.”
Six passengers and three crew members were on board the train at the time. No one on the train sustained any injuries.
Based on video evidence, foul play is not suspected, according to Donovan. The Clarkstown Police Department also responded to the scene.
Pascack Valley Line service was temporarily suspended during the investigation.
