Police Rescue Children From Home As Sex Trafficking, Prostitution Raid Unfolds

The children were taken to the hospital, and child protective services has joined the investigation, according to Clarkstown police.

NANUET, NY — An undercover sting, that was part of a sex trafficking investigation, uncovered evidence of child endangerment, according to the the Clarkstown Police Department.

The department's Street Crime Unit conducted the undercover prostitution and sex trafficking sting at a home located on Smith Road in Nanuet.

The operation stemmed from community concerns and reports of suspected illicit activity at the home in a residential neighborhood. Officers from the Street Crime Unit said they initiated the investigation by infiltrating online platforms commonly used for illicit sex trade. Through surveillance and undercover work, officers identified those actively participating in and promoting illegal prostitution, police officials said.

As a result of the operation, two adult suspects were charged with felony and misdemeanor offenses related to sex trafficking and child endangerment.

Several children were found inside the residence. They were immediately taken to a local hospital for observation and care, police said. Child Protective Services were notified and are now involved in the ongoing investigation, according to authorities.

"This investigation underscores the Clarkstown Police Department's unwavering commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals and pursuing those who engage in exploitation and trafficking," police officials said in a statement. "The department also acknowledges the vital role played by concerned community members in bringing this situation to the attention of law enforcement. Their cooperation was instrumental to the success of this operation."

Negri Sanz Del Orbe, 42, of Nanuet, was arrested at the home. She is charged with sex trafficking, promoting prostitution, unlawful imprisonment, criminal contempt, unlawfully dealing with a child, endangering the welfare of a child, permitting prostitution and criminal nuisance.

Luis Mendez-Valdez, 31, of Nanuet, was also arrested. He is charged with sex trafficking, promoting prostitution, unlawful imprisonment, criminal contempt, unlawfully dealing with a child, endangering the welfare of a child, permitting prostitution and criminal nuisance.
