UPDATE: State, Local Primaries Hit Lower Hudson Valley
Only a handful of candidates within Westchester, Rockland and Putnam will face same-party opposition Sept. 13

Before lawmakers lose, win or keep their seats come November, candidates within the same party will battle it out at the polls for a chance to be their party's champion.
Primaries are slated for Thursday, Sept. 13, moved from the previous Tuesday as to not overlap with the Sept. 11 anniversary. Note: Patch's guide takes into account redrawn district boundaries.

Local primariesÂ
For Clarkstown Town Justice, and Dan Weisberg will battle for the working famlies nomination. The full list of Rockland primaries are attached to this article as a PDF.
District 38 -- Incumbent Democrat David Carlucci and Republican Janis Castaldi will face no opposition from within their respective parties.
District 96 -- Incumbent Democrat Kenneth Zebrowski has no challengers. The petitions of Matthew Brennan and Matthew Katchmar were ruled invalid.Â
Distrist 97 -- Incumbent Democrat Ellen Jaffee and  will face no opposition from their respective parties.
Republican County Committee Seats --Â Republican party committee members in Clarkstown Districts 24, 27 and 47 will battle it out with challengers.
Conservative County Committee Seats -- Conservative party committee members in Clarkstown are facing challengers in Districts 1, 5, 6, 8, 9, 12, 13, 16, 18, 19, 20, 22, 25, 31, 34, 37, 40, 42, 44, 45, 46, 48, 49, 53, 54, 57, 59, 68, 69, 74, 75, 80.Â

Those that usually go to Nanuet Senior High School, Pascack Community Center, Nanuet Library and Middlewood Senior Citizen Housing to vote will now go to Monterey Gardens—for Election Districts: 5, 10, 12, 18, 33, 35, 41, 44, 47, 62, 66, 75, 79, 80, 81Â

District 37 -- Democrat George Latimer and Republican Bob Cohen will face no opposition from within their respective parties.
District 40 -- Incumbent Republican Greg Ball and Democrat Justin Wagner will face no opposition from within their respective parties.
