What's Open/Closed Around Nanuet On Labor Day?

On Labor Day we honor America's workers and enjoy the last unofficial weekend of summer.

NANUET, NY—Labor Day is always celebrated on the first Monday of September and marks the unofficial end of summer, since many schools open the next day. The first Labor Day celebration honoring America's workers took place in New York City on Sept. 5, 1882, but the day did not become a national holiday until 1894.

Government offices and many businesses will be closed, allowing workers to enjoy a long summer weekend. What's closed and what's open? Here's our list:

Almost all post offices.

(The Postal Service’s Palisades Postal Store at the mall in West Nyack is the only Post Office in the Greater Hudson Valley that is open on Labor Day. Full postal retail services are available from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
with U.S. Passport application acceptance hours from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Although there will be no regular mail service on September 4, Priority Mail Express will be delivered on Labor Day. Normal mail delivery, collections, and Post Office business hours will resume Tuesday, September 5.)

No Fed-Ex delivery, although some offices will have modified hours.

Most stores and supermarkets are open but some may have limited hours.
