• Phoenicia firefighter seriously hurt in New Paltz crash (dailyfreeman.com) — A Phoenicia firefighter was critically injured when his truck crashed after a deer strike on Route 32 in New Paltz, in a collision investigated by New Paltz police. He remains in a coma with significant injuries, while two passengers suffered minor injuries. Local fire departments and the town of Shandaken are rallying support through donations to help his family. 
• Court appearance for New Paltz man held by ICE rescheduled (dailyfreeman.com) — A New Paltz resident and Afghan refugee, Ali Sajad Faqirzada, has had his immigration court appearance in Newark rescheduled to early next year while he remains in ICE custody. • SUNY and BOCES defy national decline (hudsonvalleyone.com) — Statewide college enrollment is rising, and SUNY New Paltz is part of a SUNY system that’s bucking national declines while BOCES programs expand across Ulster County. Local students are increasingly turning to Ulster BOCES career and technical education, supported by a new iPark 87 campus and a statewide push to broaden graduation pathways beyond traditional Regents exams.
