13-Year-Old Dies Days After Being Shot In Head At NYC Playground: NYPD

NEW YORK CITY — A 13-year-old boy died Monday, several days after he was shot in the head at a Staten Island playground, police said.

The death of Jamoure Harrell has been deemed a homicide, authorities said.

Harrell was playing basketball May 19 inside Reverend Doctor Maggie Howard Playground along Tompkins Avenue when a shooter fired several gunshots, the New York Daily News reported.

One round struck Harrell in the head, and he was rushed to a Staten Island hospital, where he spent days in critical condition before dying, police said.

Cops believe the shooting was a targeted attack and have arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection to it, the New York Post first reported.
