2 Cops, Shoplifter Hit By Car During Bronx Foot Chase: NYPD
The accused shoplifter was critically injured in the Thursday collision, but police still arrested him, authorities said.

NEW YORK CITY — Two cops' foot chase to catch a suspected shoplifter ended when all three were struck by a car on a Bronx street Thursday, police said.
The two cops went to the hospital in stable condition with leg injuries, while the accused shoplifter — Manny Tate, 45, of The Bronx — suffered internal injuries and was listed in critical condition, authorities said.
Police later arrested Tate on a slew of requested charges, including larceny, robbery and aggravated assault on a police office, NYPD officials said.

The chase began about 7:10 p.m. when cops responded to a larceny at a Target along West 225th Street, authorities said.
Two officers — a 23-year-old man and a 33-year-old man — arrived and chased the shoplifter across West 225th Street, where they all were struck by Honda Civic, police said.

The driver — a 53-year-old man — stayed with all three and was issued a summons for failure to use due care, authorities said.
