Aircraft Emergency At JFK Airport Causes Hour Long Ground Stop

Delays at the airport have risen to over four hours due to strong winds.​

NEW YORK CITY — An apparent aircraft emergency led to a ground stop to be issued at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Thursday, according to The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)

All inbound flights were being held at their origin until 1:45 p.m. The ground stop was first issued around 12:30 p.m.

No flights were allowed to take off from the airport during that time.

The emergency seems to be related to a Frontier Airlines flight arriving from San Juan, according to The Port Authority. The plane land at the airport around 12:50 p.m.

Additional details on the aircraft emergency were not readily available. No injuries were reported.
