Here are the calendar dates, vacations and holidays for New York City's 2017-2018 public school year.

NEW YORK, NY — The summer days are running out fast. New York City schools are back in session on Sept. 7 – though there are only 14 days until the first day off.

2017
- Sept. 7: First day of school for all students, with early dismissal for kindergarten students
- Sept. 8: First full day for kindergarten students
- Sept. 13: Elementary school parent-teacher conferences
- Sept. 21-22: Rosh Hashanah (no school)
- Sept. 26: Middle school parent-teacher conferences
- Sept. 28: High school parent-teacher conferences
- Oct. 9: Columbus Day (no school)
- Nov. 7: Election Day (no school)
- Nov. 9-10: High school parent-teacher conferences, with early dismissal for high school students
- Nov. 13-14: parent-teacher conferences for special education students.
- Nov. 15-16: Elementary school parent-teacher conferences, with early dismissal for elementary school students
- Nov. 23-24: Thanksgiving recess
- Nov. 29-30: Middle school parent-teacher conferences, with early dismissal for middle school students
- Dec. 25-Jan.1: Winter vacation

- Jan. 15: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (no school)
- Jan. 26: Regents exam scoring day, fall term ends for high school students
- Jan. 29: Chancellor's conference day for staff development
- Jan. 30: Spring term begins for high school students
- Feb. 16-23: Lunar New Year and midwinter vacation
- March 6-7: Middle school parent-teacher conferences, with early dismissal for middle school students
- March 8-9: High school parent-teacher conferences, with early dismissal for high school students
- March 12-13: Parent-teacher conferences for special education students
- March 14-15: Elementary school parent-teacher conferences, with early dismissal for elementary school students
- May 3: High school parent-teacher conferences
- May 9: Middle school parent-teacher conferences

- March 30-April 6: Spring vacation
- May 28: Memorial Day (no school)
- June 7: Anniversary Day (no school)
- June 11: Clerical Day (no school for elementary, middle school students)
- June 15: Eid al-Fitr (no school)
- June 22: Regents rating day (no school)
- June 26: Last day of school
