NEW YORK CITY — A Bronx man faces a murder charge after DNA evidence linked him to a woman's 1996 death, according to police and reports.
Gregory Fleetwood, 66, faces a murder charge in the cold case and was arrested Monday by NYPD officers, authorities said.
He's accused of killing Jasmine Porter, 36, who was found dead Feb. 5, 1996, inside a Davidson Avenue apartment, police said.

Porter had trauma to her neck, and the city's medical examiner later ruled her death a homicide.
But her death remained unsolved until the NYPD's cold case squad retested DNA found under Porter's fingernail, according to a New York Daily News report.

The DNA linked Fleetwood — who had been released from prison in 1994 after serving time on a manslaughter charge — to the murder, according to the Daily News.
