Bronx Zoo's Wannabe Lion Tamer Arrested, Cops Say
The lions may have let Myah Autry of Brownsville leave in peace — but the police didn't.

NEW YORK — The lions let her leave in peace — but the cops didn't. The self-described "FULL BREED LIONESS" who stepped into a lion enclosure at the Bronx Zoo was arrested Wednesday night, police say.
Myah Autry of Brownsville faces two criminal trespass charges for her close encounters with a pair lions and some giraffes on Sept. 28, according to the NYPD.
Cops arrested Autry, 33, near the Barclays Center arena after she posted on Instagram that she would turn herself in there, an NYPD spokesperson said.

Autry made headlines after she was caught on camera stepping over a fence to shimmy and wave at the stoic big cats. She also greeted two giraffes from inside their enclosure, according to police and a video she shared on Instagram.
Autry wrote in Instagram posts that she was not afraid to confront the carnivorous creatures, noting that a lion who stared her down did not growl or "go into Attack Mode."

"I Entered His Home in Peace & He let me Leave in Peace," she wrote in one post. She also called herself a "FULL BREED LIONESS" in another caption on her now-private Instagram page.
Police have said they started looking for Autry after the Bronx Zoo filed a complaint against her. She violated the zoo's strict "zero tolerance" policy against invading animal habitats, a zoo spokesperson said after video of her adventure surfaced.
"This action was a serious violation and unlawful trespass that could have resulted in serious injury or death," the spokesperson said at the time. "Barriers and rules are in place to keep both visitors, staff and animals safe. We have a zero tolerance policy on trespass and violation of barriers," the zoo spokesman said in a statement."
