NYC James Beard Awards 2023 Semifinalists Announced

More than 30 New York City restaurants and chefs made the cut in the prestigious upcoming culinary awards.

NEW YORK CITY — A smorgasbord of New York City restaurants and chefs got plated as 2023 James Beard Awards semifinalists.

More than 30 city chefs and restaurants are in the running for the prestigious award, the James Beard Foundation announced Wednesday.

“This is always an exhilarating moment as we kick off the Awards cycle and recognize the outstanding achievements of individuals and teams across the country,” said Clare Reichenbach, CEO of the James Beard Foundation, in a statement.

The nominees cover the gamut of New York City's culinary scene, from esteemed institutions to up-and-coming chefs.

From here, the foundation will winnow the list to nominees, which will be announced March 29. Winners will be celebrated at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards Ceremony on June 5.
