City Of Water Day: Waterfront Alliance To Celebrate At Governors Island

Waterfront Alliance hosts the city-wide event July 15. Patch shares a list of activities and exhibitors.

NEW YORK, NY - New York City celebrates its waterfronts July 15 with the 10th annual City of Water Day, a family-oriented harbor festival held on Governors Island and other locations around New York Harbor — and it’s completely free.

City of Water Day, set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is a free event hosted by Waterfront Alliance, an environmental conservation non-profit that, per its website, works to protect, transform and revitalize the New York and New Jersey harbor and waterfront.

Activities will include boat tours on a variety of vessel types, rowing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, the Con Edison Cardboard Kayak Race and children’s activities sponsored by Disney.

The Waterfront Activity Fair will take place at the main location on Governors Island, featuring such exhibitors as the American Heart Association, Center for Holographic Arts, Earth Day Initiative, Earth Matter (Zero Waste), Science and Resiliency Institute at Jamaica Bay and others.
