Comcast Internet Outages Hit NYC As Part Of National Issue

NEW YORK, NY – Some Comcast customers with the XFINITY internet service are experiencing issues in New York City as part of a nationwide snarl in service, the company said Monday.

"We apologize & appreciate your patience while we work to fix," Comcast wrote on Twitter. The city was identified as one of many across the country experiencing problems.

The website Down Detector, which tracks significant outages, shows that there was a major spike in customers reporting problems with Comcast since early afternoon.

Down Detector also showed a spike in reported issues across websites like Facebook, Google and Twitter over the same time period. It's unclear if the outages are related in any way.
