Creepy Clowns: Could They Be Headed Back To NYC?

The scary clown phenomenon that swept the nation could return with an "It" remake.

NEW YORK CITY, NY – Creepy clowns that put New Yorkers – and the nation – on edge could be bringing their terrifying performances back next month. A year after a series of weird sightings, including one in which a knife-wielding Bozo chased a 16-year-old from the subway, a police department has issued a warning of their return.

State police in Pennsylvania say they're preparing for the clown craze to start all over again as a remake of the killer clown classic "It" hits theaters next month.

"It is anticipated that similar 'creepy clown' sightings could be reported starting as soon as September," police in that state said in a community awareness bulletin issued Wednesday.

The knife-wielding subway clown appeared in New York City in October 2016. The same month, another 16-year-old boy looked out his bedroom window in Queens and saw a clown outside who waved at him while holding a knife, according to DNAinfo.
