Does New York City Have A Shot At Luring Amazon?
What are the city's chances at tempting the huge brand to move here?

NEW YORK, NY – More than 40 organizations are trying to tempt Amazon to choose New York City as its new home, according to the city's Economic Development Corporation. But, with massive competition to lure the company from metro regions across the country, what are New York's chances?
A recent analysis from Moody's Analytics looked at the requirements put forth in Amazon's HQ2 request for proposals and added in a couple factors it believes are important to businesses making such landmark decisions. It applied those standards to all 65 metro areas in the U.S. with a population of 1 million or more (excluding Amazon's current home of Seattle,) It links New York City with Jersey City and White Plains.

Here's how New York's grouping did in each category, ranked 0-5 with 5 being the best:

Business environment: The New York City area, with three major airports and other infrastructure, scored 3.26.
Human capital: With so many people living in the city, New York scored better than other metro areas with 4.46.
Cost: No, the city isn't cheap.It scored 0.62 – the lowest of the top contenders.
Quality of life: Art, entertainment, food and a shrinking crime rate earned it 3.83.
Transportation: The deteriorating subway and Penn Station's on-going woes contributed to a 2.68 score.
Geography: New York scored 2.67.
New York ranked sixth overall with an average score of 2.97. The leading contender, according to Moody's, is Austin and Round Rock in Texas, with an average of 3.08.

- Portland/Vancouver/Hillsboro, Oregon/Washington
- Boston
- Salt Lake City
