In an effort to save the Elizabeth Street Garden in Nolita, Mayor Eric Adams has designated it as city parkland before Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani takes over — who had previously said he would want to build senior affordable housing at the site.

Man Vandalized 3 NYC Churches In Apparent Hate Crime
A suspect allegedly vandalized three New York City churches in an apparent hate crime last month.
The three churches in Queens were all vandalized on Oct. 5. beginning at 1:40 a.m. and lasting about 20 minutes, police said.
Surveillance images were released on Wednesday.

Building Super Killed During Fight With Man Accused Of Stealing Packages
A 41-year-old building superintendent was killed during a dispute with a man accused of stealing packages out of a Brooklyn building.
The incident happened at a building on Ocean Avenue in Ditmas Park around 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

Firefighter Patrick Brady's Funeral And Wake Planned For This Week
New York City will give a hero’s farewell this week to fallen FDNY firefighter Patrick Brady.
Brady, a 42-year-old married FDNY veteran who died in the line of duty last Saturday after suffering a heart attack while battling a rooftop blaze on a six-story Kings Highway apartment building near E. 94th Street in Brownsville, will be honored at a wake in Brooklyn on Friday.
