Expect Days Of Disruptions On These NYC Subway Lines
Good news: the MTA is upgrading signals on several subway lines. Bad news: the work could lead to some travel headaches this week.

NEW YORK CITY — Straphangers might not fare well this week on New York City’s subways.
A spate of switch and signal modernization work will cause disruptions and reroutes along the A/C/D/E/F/M lines through Feb. 27, MTA officials said.
Crews scheduled work because fewer New Yorkers ride subways during President’s Day week, officials said.

“This means we can fit over an entire month of weekend work into a single ten-day period,” an MTA service notice states.
🚨 Reminder: Starting at 9:45 p.m. tonight and lasting 24/7 through 5 a.m. Monday, February 27, A/C/D/E/F/M trains will be rerouted while we perform switch and signal modernization work. But even with expected decreased ridership, the service changes likely will affect thousands of straphangers.

All six affected lines will be rerouted in Manhattan, according to the MTA.
Downtown E trains will run on the M line from Fifth Avenue-53rd Street to West Fourth Street-Washington Square, a service notice states. Likewise, downtown A/C trains will run on the express track in parts of Manhattan.
The stations at 50th Street and 23rd Street won’t have downtown service all day and all night for the rest of the week, officials said.
F trains will run on the E line between Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue and Fifth Avenue-53rd Street, a service notice states. M trains will run on the J line between Delancey Street-Essex Street and Chambers Street, and won’t run along Sixth Avenue or Queens Boulevard, the notice states.
“If you would normally take the A/C/D/E/F/M you’ll want to plan extra travel time, consider starting your trip on a different line, or make an extra transfer,” the notice states.

The work is expected to end Feb. 27 at 5 a.m.
