8 Men Linked To ISIS In NYC, Other U.S. Cities Nabbed By FBI: Report

The eight men were arrested in Philly, Los Angeles, and New York as part of an FBI sting operation.

NEW YORK CITY — Federal authorities have taken several men with suspected ties to ISIS into custody in various U.S. cities, including New York City, according to multiple media reports.

The eight men from Tajikistan were apprehended by ICE agents as part of an FBI sting operation in Philadelphia, Los Angeles and New York, ABC 7 New York reported.

None of the men have been charged with crimes related to terrorism, but were taken into custody on immigration charges and face deportation, according to the report. The men entered the United States from Mexico in 2023, when they were vetted and allowed into the country after no security issued were found.

Federal authorities in recent weeks found information indicating ties or affiliation with ISIS, ABC 7 New York reported.

The FBI and Department of Homeland Security released a statement following the arrests:

"Over the last few days, ICE agents arrested several non-citizens pursuant to immigration authorities. The actions were carried out in close coordination with the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Forces. The individuals arrested are detained in ICE custody pending removal proceedings. As the FBI and DHS have recently described in public and partner bulletins, the U.S. has been in a heightened threat environment. The FBI and DHS will continue working around the clock with our partners to identify, investigate, and disrupt potential threats to national security."
