'Fearless' NYC Mom 'Never Let Anyone Stand In Her Way,' Son Says

NEW YORK CITY, NY— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!
Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

What makes your Mom extra special?
Mom never let anyone stand in her way. She was the first in her family to go to college. She was a groundbreaker in an industry that was dominated by men (TV news). And she is fearless in dealing with Multiple Sclerosis.
Mom made sure to always be at all of our events, whether it was flying across the country for chess tournaments with me or attending my sister's singing and theater performances (which, admittedly, were way better entertainment than chess).
I wouldn't be the person I am today without my Mom.
Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?
She constantly gives back to the community. She serves on the community board. She teaches religion classes. She spent a career behind the scenes and deserves to be recognized.
