As 311 celebrated its 20th anniversary, New York City highlighted its crazy calls, such as: "Can I claim my dog as a dependent on my taxes?"

NEW YORK CITY — No, 311 can’t check if your boyfriend is married.

At least one surely disappointed New Yorker posed that question to 311 during the service’s history, according to a new video city officials released Thursday to mark its 20th anniversary.

Over two decades, New Yorkers have reached 525 million times to 311, Mayor Eric Adams said in the video.

He then dove in to what officials called the “most outrageous” questions asked among those half a billion calls, texts, social media posts, website submissions, chats and mobile app requests.

“Can I claim my dog as a dependent on my taxes?” he read.

The absurdities didn’t stop there — and some requests raised uncomfortable questions.

“Is there a law limiting how many times you can flush the toilet?” asked one person.

“Can you transfer me to a UFO-ologist?” another asked.

Another made a quite literally haunting report.

“I’d like to report a ghost in my window,” the person reported.

(Patch note: we would like to point out that’s arguably not the strangest ghost report to 311. As previously reported by Patch, one caller claimed a haunting straight out of Charles Dickens.

"The ghosts of Christmas past and Christmas future keep waking me up and trying to make me visit alternate timelines," a New Yorker told 311 on Oct. 22, 2021. "Please they are harassing me and I can’t take it.")

The 311 complaints highlighted by Adams included one New Yorker who appeared fed up by excessive kindness.

“I’d like to report my neighbor for waving at everyone on the block,” the crabby complainer said.
