Ian Remnants To Batter NYC This Weekend As Storm’s Clouds Fill Sky
The city will be under a hazardous outlook Saturday until next week Thursday as more than 2 inches of rain is predicted.

NEW YORK CITY — Remnants from destructive Hurricane Ian likely will hit New York City this weekend and dump heavy rain on the city, meteorologists warn.
The city will be under a hazardous weather outlook Saturday until Thursday next week, according to the National Weather Service. And clouds from the storm’s eye 1,000 miles away have already filled New York City’s skies, AccuWeather reported.
Unlike areas farther south — such as South Carolina, which is in the sights of a revived Ian Friday — New York City is for now considered to be in marginal to slight risk of excessive rainfall from the massive weather system, the outlook states.

But the city is still expected to receive more than 2 inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
“A decent amount of rain is expected this weekend,” the service’s New York office tweeted.

Ian hit Florida's Gulf Coast as a fearsome Category 4 hurricane Wednesday, and as one of the strongest storms ever to hit the U.S.
The storm flooded homes, waged a destruction across both Florida’s coasts and knocked out power to 2.6 million Florida homes and businesses.
The death toll is as yet unknown, but President Joe Biden said “this could be the deadliest hurricane in Florida history.”
South Carolina’s entire coast is under a hurricane warning Friday as the Ian’s winds held at 85 mph and the National Hurricane Center forecast a “life-threatening storm surge” and hurricane conditions.
The storm is expected to weaken as it hits land again and moves north, forecasters said.
But the storm has already started to impact the city. Just look up at the sky, according to AccuWeather.
“The eye of the storm was located off the coast of South Carolina, but clouds extended northward nearly 1,000 miles, filling the sky as far away as Boston, New York City and Pittsburgh,” an AccuWeather report states.
“As Ian advances northward, clouds will thicken over the mid-Atlantic and southern New England, eventually transitioning to tropical rain heading into the weekend.”
Tropical rainfall, wind and coastal flooding could hit the city starting Saturday, AccuWeather reported.
As the storm moves north and to the east, there is also a chance it could revive a second time, said Joe Lundberg, an AccuWeather meteorologist.
"To potentially make matters worse, there is a chance that Ian finds a way to reach the mid-Atlantic coast and strengthen again, or perhaps a second new storm forms along the mid-Atlantic coast early next week, which would continue onshore winds and drenching rains with flooding and beach erosion problems for additional days," Lundberg said in an AccuWeather report.
