The protesters used trash cans and themselves to block the entrance and exit from the parking garage, the reports said.

NEW YORK, NY — Multiple people were arrested on Saturday as protesters blocked a parking garage near Chinatown and disrupted a planned immigration raid, reports say.

The protest happened around 11 a.m. at a garage on Centre Street where protesters had learned a number of U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents were gathered, AMNY reported.

The protesters blocked the entrance and exit of the garage with their bodies and with dozens of garbage bags, the New York Times reported.

New York Attorney General Leticia James confirmed there was a "planned federal operation" in the city that people were arrested, saying, "We're closely monitoring the situation, and we will keep working with our partners in governmet to ensure that New Yorkers know their rights, including those arrested today."

AMNY reported protesters threw trash cans and boxes at law enforcement, and police officers tackled protesters and "battered protesters with nightsticks."

There have been multiple ICE raids in the city in 2025, including one in October in downtown Manhattan, the Times report said.
