Seeking free July 4 family fun? Here's the Patch guide to Independence Day fireworks in New York City:

NEW YORK CITY — Independence Day is fast approaching so it's time to find out where you can celebrate in New York City with the Macy’s July 4 Fireworks Spectacular.

The annual fireworks tradition will now take place on the Hudson River for the first time in over a decade. Mayor Eric Adams announced the release of 10,000 free tickets for the event on Tuesday.

Tickets are slated to go live on Wednesday at 10 a.m. and will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis at www.nycjuly4.com. Each member of the public will be limited to two tickets.

For those who do not get a ticket, the fireworks show will still be visible all along the West Side Highway.

ADA accessible viewing locations will be located at Christopher Street and Washington Street and West 41st Street and 11th Avenue.
