NEW YORK CITY — A 48-year-old man lit himself on fire and died in front of a Manhattan church early Thursday morning.

Police responded to a 911 call that a man had set himself on fire at St. George’s Episcopal Church — located at East 16th Street and Rutherford Place — around 2:30 a.m., according to a New York Post report.

The victim was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.
