'Stampede' Near Times Square After Man Shot Dead: Police, Report
A 22-year-old man was shot and killed at the Crossroads of the World Thursday evening, police said.

NEW YORK, NY — A crowd of people fled in terror after a man was shot dead near Times Square Thursday evening, according to police and reports.
The 22-year-old man was shot in the chest outside the Shake Shack on West 44th Street and Eighth Avenue about 5:30 p.m., according to police.
The shooting triggered a "stampede" as people ran for safety, reported the Daily News.

First responders rushed the man to Mount Sinai West but doctors were unable to save his life, said police.
The investigation is still ongoing and there were no arrests.

“There’s a lot of action on these corners," filmmaker Kris Williams told a Daily News reporter. "It gets very territorial...I’m not surprised at all."
