Man Shot And Killed, Snaps 12-Day Streak Of No Murders In NYC

NEW YORK CITY — New York City tied its longest stretch without a single homicide — a record that ended on Sunday.

The city went 12 days, from Nov. 25 to Dec. 7, without a homicide, according to the NYPD. That ties a record set in 2015.

On Sunday, a 38-year-old man was fatally shot in the stairwell of an apartment building in the Bronx. The man was found with a gunshot wound at the Sotomayor Houses in Soundview.

“Right strategy. Great execution. That’s how you set record after record. Thank you to the members of the NYPD who have sacrificed so much this year to drive down violent crime to record lows," NYPD commissioner Jessica Tisch said in a statement.

For the month of November, murders were also at the lowest level in recorded history with 16 murders, tying the previous record set in 2018, according to police.

In November, there were zero murders in all of Queens and Staten Island, and overall murders were down 46.6 percent in November 2025 compared to November 2024.
