NEW YORK CITY — An attacker stabbed a 37-year-old man in the back during an attempted robbery in Greenwich Village Tuesday morning.

The incident happened around 5 a.m. near Mac Dougal Street and Bleecker Street, police said.

The suspect stabbed the 37-year-old man and demanded money, police said.

After being unsuccessful, the attacker fled the scene.

The victim was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition, police said.
