Man Tried To Kidnap Young Child From NYC Day Care: Police
The man entered the building and told the school staff that he was there to pick up a 3-year-old child, police said.

NEW YORK CITY — An unknown man tried to kidnap a 3-year-old girl from a New York City day care Monday, police said.
The incident at a day care center located at 35-19 Leavitt St. in Queens, police said.
The man entered the building and told the school staff that he was there to pick up a 3-year-old child, naming her, and telling them that her father would be 20 minutes late, police said.

The staff would not release the child after looking up that he was not an emergency contact listed by the parents.
The man then said he would wait outside for the child before fleeing on foot, police said.

The child remained safe and secure inside the facility, police said.
