NEW YORK CITY — Mayor Eric Adams did not rule out the possibility of switching political parties and rejoining the Republican Party during a number of television appearances on Friday.

Politico first reported that Adams was potentially considering the change.

In a PIX11 interview when asked, Adams said “I’m a part of the American party," and “I love this country.”

The mayor's latest comments come after criticism over his recent openness to Trump as his criminal case continues and with the incoming president's power to potentially pardon him, according to the Politico report.

When asked if he would run for reelection next year as a Democrat, Adams said he would.

“That is what I’m proposing to do,” he said. “I’ve been a Democrat for many years, and I’m going to run for my reelection as a Democrat.”

“Those who don’t like it, they will cancel me. I say: Cancel me. I’m for America.”
