NJTransit Service Into NYC Crippled By Stuck Bridge
Many trains were temporarily suspended or diverted Friday.

MIDTOWN, NY – New Jersey Transit trains between Newark and Penn Station were temporarily suspended during Friday morning's rush and some other Midtown-bound trains diverted to Hoboken after a bridge over the Hackensack river got stuck open.
Midtown Direct trains, which bring thousands of commuters into the city from New Jersey towns including Maplewood, Short Hills and South Orange, started to divert to Hoboken shortly after 5 a.m.
NJ Transit tweeted that normal service resumed around 8:15 a.m., though commuters should expect delays.

The Portal Bridge, which is operated by Amtrak, is a common bane to travelers. In January, all trains from Penn Station to New Jersey were temporarily canceled after it got stuck.

Train service in and out of NYPS has resumed between Newark and NY due to earlier Amtrak Portal Bridge being stuck in the open position. NEC and NJCL rail service remains subject to up to 30 minute delays in both directions and possible cancellations.
