Here are some events to spark your imagination.

NEW YORK, NY — Five high school students in San Rafael, California have been credited with making the number 420 a key symbol of cannabis culture. Now April 20 — or 4/20 — is a bona fide holiday for stoners across the world.

The herb is illegal in New York City, though plenty of people would like to change that. But you don't have to let 4/20 pass you by.

The five boroughs have plenty of events marking the best day of the year to light up. Here's a sampling to spark your imagination.
