NYC Is America's Top Halloween Town, Study Finds
Spooky spirits will love New York but might want to stay away from New Mexico, a WalletHub study shows.

NEW YORK — They should call it the Big Pumpkin. New York City is apparently American's true Halloween Town, as it took the top spot on WalletHub's recent ranking of the nation's best places for Halloween.
The personal finance website evaluated the 100 largest U.S. cities based on 20 key Hallow's Eve-related metrics in three categories: trick-or-treater friendliness, Halloween fun, and Halloween weather.
New York is apparently a great place to be a trick-or-treater, as it took the No. 2 spot in the first category, according the list published Tuesday. The city also scared up a second-place ranking for Halloween fun but didn't do so hot when it comes to weather, placing 73rd in that category.

The city was helped by its abundance of places to buy Halloween supplies — it tied for first place for the most costume stores per capita and candy and chocolate stores per capita, WalletHub found.
New York's neighbor across the Hudson River — Jersey City, New Jersey — gave the city a run for its candy, ranking No. 2 in the nation overall. Spooky spirits could also head west for a good time, as California cities took up four spots on the top 10. But they might want to stay away from Albuquerque, New Mexico, which placed dead last.
