This NYC Bar Is The Best In North America, New Top 50 List Declares

NEW YORK CITY — A New York City bar sits atop North America's pecking order of bars, according to a new ranking.

Double Chicken Please, a Lower East Side cocktail joint, is the "Best Bar in North America 2023," a list by 50 Best found.

And it's not the only Big Apple watering hole on the ranking. Twelve city establishments occupied slots on the "North America's 50 Best Bars" list.

Those are, with rankings:

• 1. Double Chicken Please, 115 Allen St., Manhattan
• 3. Katana Kitten, 531 Hudson Street, Manhattan
• 6. Dante, 79-81 Macdougal St., Manhattan
• 7. Overstory, 70 Pine St. 64th Floor, Manhattan
• 13. Attaboy, 134 Eldridge St., Manhattan
• 14. Employees Only, 510 Hudson St., Manhattan
• 18. Mace, 35 W 8th St., Manhattan
• 29. Martiny’s, 121 E 17th St., Manhattan
• 39. Maison Premiere, 298 Bedford Ave., Brooklyn,
• 44. The Dead Rabbit, 30 Water St., Manhattan
• 46. Clover Club, 210 Smith St., Brooklyn
• 50. Milady’s, 160 Prince St., Manhattan

Eagle-eyed cocktail swillers likely will notice most of those bars are Lower Manhattan haunts — a continuation of food and drink rankings' tendency tend to ignore happenings in the so-called "outer boroughs."

But that's not to say the bars on the list aren't worthy of notice, at list according to the tastemakers of Top 50.

Double Chicken Please's move from cocktail pop-ups to a permanent Lower East Side home base heralded the arrival of a truly transformational spot, the ranking argues.

"NYC drinks have never been the same and the bar has been on a meteoric ascent to the top of the world’s cocktail scene ever since," the ranking states.

The bar was also named the ranking's Best Bar in Northeast USA 2023.

Likewise, two other New York City bars got additional honors by the list.

Manhatta garnered the "Campari One To Watch Award 2023."

And Overstory's rise up the ranking led to it receving the "Nikka Highest Climber Award," according to the list.
