UPDATE: City councilman Justin Brannan conceded the race in a post on X, Tuesday night.

"We lost. But I'm so proud of the outer boro underdog race we ran and the tremendous coalition we built."

Mark Levine told his supporters that they gave the city hope that "we can build affordable housing, fix the broken mental health system, and that we can fight back against the madman in the White House."

Votes are being tallied up in the New York City Comptroller race between Councilman Justin Brannan and Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine.

More than 830,875 New Yorkers had checked in to vote by 6 p.m. Tuesday, including mail-in ballots, according to New York City's Board of Elections.

Polls closed at 9 p.m. With 94 percent of votes counted. Here are the real-time unofficial results for the New York City Comptroller race.

  • Justin Brannan – 296739 votes (33.5%)
  • Mark Levine – 425510 votes (48.13%)
