NYC Is One Of Worst Cities For Pet-Owning Renters, Study Finds

Only in New York do pet owners pay $250 more in rent a month for their fur babies.

NEW YORK CITY — New York City is one of the ruffest rent cities out there for pet owners, a new study found.

The Big Apple ranked 95th in the 100-city "Most Pet Friendly Cities For Renters" list released by Zumper last week.

The study gave the city low marks in almost every measure, with being particularly bad for fur baby parents.

The city's low ranking is arguably surprising, given how many New Yorkers are pet owners.

But pet owners also likely know the city's shortcomings all too well.

The study gave New York "D" and "F" grades for price, number of pet-friendly apartments, air quality index, parks per capita, veterinarians per capita and vet costs.

The only "A" grade came from walkability, of which the city actually ranked third in the nation, according to the study.
