NYC Rep Wants To Put Photos Of President, VP In Every Post Office
Rep. Dan Donovan was moved to make a change after a constituent said her post office never hung a of President Donald Trump.

STATEN ISLAND, NY — A Staten Island congressman wants to make sure every U.S. post office has a picture of President Donald Trump. Rep. Dan Donovan on Thursday said he plans to introduce a bill that would require the U.S. Postal Service to display official portraits of the sitting president and vice president in all post offices.
"When people go to the post office or any federal building, they expect to see pictures of their government leaders displayed," Donovan, New York City's only Republican congressman, said in a statement.
The legislation would reverse a U.S. Postal Service rule banning post offices from hanging pictures of the nation's top two lawmakers, Donovan's office said.

Donovan, who represents Staten Island and parts of South Brooklyn, said he was moved to make a change after a Trump-backing constituent complained that her post office had photos of Democratic President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden when they were in office, but never replaced them with shots of Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, who are Republicans.
Requiring post offices to adorn their walls with the faces of the sitting leaders will "prevent any alleged political bias in the future," Donovan's office said in a news release.

"(I)t’s disturbing to hear anecdotal evidence that this rule was ignored for a very long time, and is only being enforced now because of who occupies the Oval Office," Donovan said.
Donovan plans to introduce the bill when Congress gets back from recess next week, his office said.
Donovan stood by Trump in the 2016 election. He's currently facing a GOP primary challenge from Michael Grimm, Donovan's predecessor who resigned from his seat in 2015 after he pleaded guilty to federal tax fraud.
