NYC Restaurant Week: Where To Find Deals On High-End Eats

More than 375 restaurants are involved in the semi-annual celebration of food.

NEW YORK, NY — It's not hard for pricy menus in New York City's world-renowned restaurants to put delicious meals out of reach for New Yorkers and tourists alike. But that's about to change on Monday — for a few weeks, at least — with the start of NYC Restaurant Week Winter.

More than 375 eateries across the five boroughs will offer special three-course prix fixe menus from Jan. 22 to Feb. 9. The semi-annual celebration of food, now in its 26th year, aims to make high-end food a little more affordable, with lunches going for $29 and dinners for $42.

NYC & Co., the city's tourism organization, has several requirements that Restaurant Week participants must meet. It considers the chef's background, restaurant ratings, awards and other information. Plus, every restaurant has to offer a discount of 20 to 50 percent off the regular menu price to be picked.

The prix fixe menus must include at least three choices for appetizers and entrees and at least two dessert options. Some spots also have deals on drinks or other items.

"New York City is a world-class culinary destination and our NYC Restaurant Week program, which celebrated its 25th anniversary this past summer, exemplifies this ranking and welcomes all to come and experience it first-hand," Fred Dixon, NYC & Co.'s president and CEO, said in a news release earlier this month.

Every participating restaurant will offer specials for lunch, dinner or both Monday through Friday. Sundays are optional. No matter which day you choose, be sure to make a reservation — tables are sure to fill up fast.
