NYC Restaurants: Cocktails, Wine + Pizza Edition
The rain didn't wash away exciting food news in the city this past week.
NEW YORK CITY — Heavy rain (hopefully) didn't wash away a buffet of new restaurants slated to open in New York City.
This past week's food news was dominated by word of new wine, cocktail, pizza and Thai joints across the city.

An "all-day destination for lunch and dinner" — Parla —is slated to serve up New York-style pizza and Italian-inspired cocktail starting in October on the Upper West Side.

Pastas, pizzas, vegetable dishes and shareable plates will anchor the lunch and dinner menu, helmed by Executive Chef Brian Ellis of The Smith. The Smith team has four Manhattan locations, as well as sites in Washington, D.C. and Chicago.
Cocktails are also a draw at a new bar inside Moynihan Train Hall.
The Irish Exit, a sister to the famous The Dead Rabbit, recently opened in the train hub. It features a bar program of Irish-made beer, spirits, and cocktails curated by Beverage Director Aidan Bowie and Director of Irish Whiskey Mark McLaughlin.
Other new Chelsea spots include the Italian-inspired Lulla on West 24th Street, the Italian-French cuisine at Cafe Carmellini on Fifth Avenue and fancy Korean fried chicken at COQODAQ on East 22nd Street.
Up in Midtown, Cinico Coffee Company started to welcome customers.
More Italian fare will be found at Ambra in the West Village, which marks the return of Chef John DeLucie, famous for his celebrity-friendly Waverly Inn.
A new Thai joint — LenoxThai — is coming soon to Lenox Hill.
And the success of an inaugural Latin Night Market in Inwood could mean it'll return sooner than the next scheduled event in May 2024.

Now for the gross stuff: missing toilets, adulterated food, mislabeled pesticides, rodents and mice were found in eateries.
The violations this week prompted health inspectors to close restaurants in Brooklyn and Queens.
