Jun. 24—STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Multiple emergency units responded and an evacuation ensued Monday morning after a refrigerant leak was reported at a public school in Travis.

A refrigerant leak was reported around 11:21 a.m. at 4108 Victory Blvd., The Carteret School (PS 26), according to a spokesman for the New York City Fire Department.

According to the FDNY spokesperson, the leak in the building then required a precautionary evacuation of 350 people.

FDNY said there are no reported injuries and EMS were standing by.

At approximately, 12:40 p.m., kids were seen safely playing carefree outside on the playground under supervision of the school's staff.
