NYC Student Wins Statewide Doodle for Google Contest

NEW YORK CITY — A NYC grade school student was declared the statewide winner of the 16th annual Doodle for Google art contest.

Benson Li from P.S. 56 The Louis Desario School in Staten Island will have the chance of winning a $55,000 college scholarship, a $50,000 tech package for their school, and have their art featured on Google.com.

This year’s Doodle contest prompt, in celebration of Google’s 25th anniversary, asked students to answer “My wish for the next 25 years…” through their art.

Li's artwork titled “Future Transportation” depicts what "transportation might look like over the next 25 years of hard work and dedication."

"It represents my wish for the next 25 years because my wish is for humanity to have transportation that can drive itself more safely so we can save time and do other things in the car and that over the next 25 years transportation will improve," Li wrote in his Google prompt response.

The national contest winner will be decided by public voting, which is open now. You can vote for Li's Doodle at doodle4google.com.
