NYC Suspends Alternate Side Parking On Thursday, City Says
Drivers are being told to keep their cars in parking spots so city vehicles can work the streets. Parking meters will remain in effect.

NEW YORK, NY — New York City will suspend alternate side parking rules on Thursday so Department of Sanitation vehicles can continue clearing snow from Wednesday's storm, city officials announced Wednesday.
"Alternate Side Parking is SUSPENDED tomorrow Thursday, February 21. Please leave your car in place so @NYCSanitation can keep working," Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted Wednesday.
Parking meters throughout the city will remain in effect on Thursday, Department of Sanitation officials said.

New York was covered with a dusting of about just more than one inches of snow in most part of the city Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. Nearly 700 Department of Sanitation salt spreaders were thrust into duty Wednesday and are expected to be in use through the night, the department said.

- Central Park: 1.1 inches;
- LaGuardia: 0.9 inches;
- JFK: 1.3 inches;
- Islip: 0.6 inches;
- Newark: 1.9 inches.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 1 a.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service announced. The weather service predicts that snow totals may reach up to two inches with a "light glaze" of ice on the streets.
Snowfall should begin to turn to rain at about 9 p.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service announced. Motorists have been warned to anticipate slippery conditions and increased traffic due to the weather.
