The city will be under a two-day heat advisory starting Thursday as forecasters expect the heat index to hit 104 degrees.

And it's not going to be pleasant as highs Thursday are expected to hit 97 degrees — a near record, according to AccuWeather — and humidity is poised to swamp the city.

As of Wednesday morning, the city had not yet activated its Cooling Center Finder, but in the past officials have encouraged New Yorkers without air conditioning to go to public places such as libraries.
"Use air conditioning to stay cool at home or go to a place that has air conditioning," the heat advisory states. "Check on vulnerable friends, family members and neighbors."
Emergency management officials urged New Yorkers to avoid strenuous activity during the coming heat advisory.
