NYC Weather: Coastal Flooding, Winds Near 40 MPH Threaten City
Hefty winds and about a quarter-inch of rain could slam New Yorkers during the Thursday evening rush hour, forecasters say.

NEW YORK — Get ready for a dark and stormy commute. Gusty winds and rain could mar the Thursday evening rush hour as coastal flooding threatens parts of New York City, forecasters say.
The nasty conditions will stem from an offshore storm moving east of the metropolitan region as the city experiences chilly temperatures with a high near 59 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Showers will loom throughout the day but the best chance of a soak will start in the early evening, with roughly a quarter-inch of rain expected to land by 8 p.m., the weather service predicts. Wind gusts of up to 37 MPH could accompany the rush-hour drizzle, the forecast shows.

There will also be a threat of flooding along parts of the city's coastline Thursday evening, forecasters say. The weather service has issued coastal flood advisories for Manhattan, Brooklyn, southern Queens and Staten Island starting at 5 p.m. and one for The Bronx and northern Queens starting at 9 p.m.
Friday will also be cool, cloudy and possibly wet before temperatures warm up over the weekend, the forecast shows.
