NYC Weather Forecast: Freeze Returns As Temps Plummet 46 Degrees

Get ready for a freezing MLK Day weekend.

NEW YORK, NY — That didn't last long. Another cold snap will hit New York City this weekend after a spring-like Friday, with temperatures expected to fall into the teens Saturday and Sunday night, the National Weather Service predicts.

Saturday will bring rain in the morning, sunshine in the afternoon and a high around 31 degrees before the temperature plummets to a bone-chilling 14 at night, with wind chills making it feel as cold as zero.

More sunshine and a high around 26 are expected Sunday before another freezing night brings a low temperature of 15 degrees.

The chill follows two days of unseasonably warm temperatures. The mercury hit 60 degrees on a rainy, foggy Friday, just a week after a "bomb cyclone" storm brought a foot of snow and sub-zero wind chills.

Things will warm up for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, with temperatures hovering in the high 20s throughout the day. But winter could return Tuesday and Wednesday, when there's a 30 percent chance of snow.
