NYC Weather Forecast: More Sweltering Heat As Storms Loom

The mercury could hit 88 degrees on Tuesday.

NEW YORK, NY — New York City will see more unusually hot temperatures Tuesday as thunderstorms loom later in the week, the latest National Weather Service forecast shows. Tuesday will be slightly cooler and less humid than Monday, but still much warmer than normal with an expected high near 88 degrees, the weather service says.

The mercury hit 90 degrees in Central Park Monday, but it felt even hotter — the heat index temperature got as high as 96 degrees.

Temperatures will return to normal Wednesday with a predicted high near 81. But rain and possibly thunder could strike the city Wednesday night as a cold front moves over the area, the weather service says.
