NYC Weather Forecast: More Thunderstorms Loom Over Weekend
Thunder could strike on Saturday and Sunday.

NEW YORK, NY — The stormy weather just won't stop. A rainy weekend lies ahead in New York City with thunderstorms possible on Saturday and Sunday, the latest National Weather Service forecast shows.
Friday is expected to be cloudy and wet, with a high temperature near 64 degrees and showers most likely in the evening, according to the weather service.
Rain is likely to soak the city throughout Saturday, joined by possible thunder starting around 6 p.m., the forecast shows. Nearly three quarters of an inch of rain could fall between early Saturday morning and early Sunday morning, according to the weather service.

Sunday's showers are expected to be lighter, but the chance of thunder increases in the late morning, the NWS says. The temperature will rise to a high near 79 that day, significantly warmer than Saturday's expected high near 62.
Sunshine will make a brief return on Monday before rain threatens to fall again on Tuesday, the forecast shows.

The weekend's storms will follow a massive thunderstorm that knocked down trees and rankled commutes on Tuesday evening.

Friday
A 20 percent chance of rain after 10am. Cloudy, with a high near 64. East wind around 15 mph.
Friday Night
Periods of rain, mainly after 8pm. Low around 51. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Saturday
Periods of rain. High near 62. East wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Saturday Night
Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy fog before 2am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a temperature rising to around 65 by 1am. Southwest wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Sunday
A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a high near 79. Southwest wind 11 to 13 mph.

Partly cloudy, with a low around 63.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 78.
